To address systemic barriers related to public engagement and emphasize participation from those who are adversely impacted by the City of Durham’s projects and intentionally seek input from these communities.
To foster a high degree of connectivity and trust among our neighbors.
Be Connected Durham began in 2015 at Beyu Cafe where Angel was the Head of Talent Booking for the music program.
Angel’s vision was to implement community arts and education programming, as promised to her fellow educators during the Ferguson Uprisings.
Since then, Be Connected Durham has grown into a nonprofit organization, Be Connected Durham & Beyond, a 501(c)3 providing creative, equity-centered curatorial services to address disparities and bridge access gaps using the arts as the vehicle for lasting change. We have curated 150+ sold-out community events.
A process focused on shifting power dynamics toward healing societal ills through Place & Belonging. It begins with presence, acute awareness for where and who you are right now.
This is a great process for institutions and corporations seeking to build a deeper relationship with the community in the urban planning and community development efforts.
It also works exceptionally well for creatives and small business owners seeking to create an intentional brand strategy.
